The short version
You can use the browser playground without an account and without giving us an email address. We do not sell personal data. We do not store the text you paste into the playground beyond the anonymous counters described below.
What we collect
Four categories, and nothing else:
- Usage counters: a random session identifier kept in your browser, the pages you viewed, your browser language, the number of decisions you ran and a coarse country derived from your connection. Used for aggregate traffic reporting, quota enforcement and bug diagnosis.
- A fingerprint-free decision log: for each API call we store the model used, whether the live model answered or the fallback did, the latency, how many questions you asked and how long the state was. We do not store the state itself.
- Payment data: your email address and the order reference, if you buy a paid plan. Card data never touches our servers — it is handled entirely by the payment provider.
- Contact data: your email address, if and only if you send us a message or subscribe to the newsletter.
What happens to what you paste in
When the live model is enabled, the state and the questions you submit are sent to our inference provider in order to produce the answer, under that provider’s data-retention terms. We keep only the counters listed above. If you paste confidential data, assume it reaches the model provider; for data that must never leave your infrastructure, run Clef-Flash locally instead — the weights are open.
Cookies and local storage
The playground stores your session identifier, your language and your draft state in local storage so a refresh does not lose your work. The analytics provider sets its own cookies to count visits and distinguish browsers. Advertising, where shown on editorial pages, is served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies to select ads.
You can clear local storage at any time from your browser settings; the playground resets and nothing breaks.
Analytics, advertising and advertising partners
We use a self-hosted Plausible instance and Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. Both receive page-view events and the custom events referenced above. Neither receives the text you paste, your email address, or your API key.
Google AdSense may use the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s ad settings, and residents of the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent choice where required by law.
Data retention and your rights
Usage counters are retained for fourteen months at most. Order and entitlement records are retained for the period required for tax and accounting. Contact emails are kept for as long as the conversation requires, then deleted.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or a jurisdiction with similar law, you can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to the address on the contact page and we will act within thirty days.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
