About this playground

An independent, fast place to run Cloudflare’s open decision models in a browser and through an API — plus written guides that explain when a decision model beats an LLM.

What this site is

Clef-Flash Playground is an independent project. It provides three things: a browser playground that embeds community-hosted demos of the Clef models, a hosted decision API built on the same request shape, and a set of guides that explain decision models in plain language.

Clef, Clef-Flash and Workers AI are products of Cloudflare, Inc., released under the Apache 2.0 licence. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cloudflare. We do not represent them, and any mistakes in the explanations here are ours, not theirs.

Why it exists

When a new model ships, the information that helps a builder decide spreads across a blog post, a model card, a changelog and a handful of benchmark threads. That is fine for a researcher and painful for someone who just wants to know whether the thing is fast enough and accurate enough for their queue.

This site answers that question directly: run a state through the model, see the distribution, read one page about the trade-offs. No signup to try it, no sales call to read the numbers.

Editorial rules

Three rules keep the guides useful rather than promotional:

  • Numbers are attributed. Latency, price and VRAM figures are quoted from the published sources and labelled as such, rather than re-measured and presented as fact.
  • Limitations are stated. Where the models are weak — long-tail reasoning, decisions outside the schema, anything requiring certainties — the guides say so.
  • The site is not a mirror. The guides link to the primary sources so you can check the claim rather than trust it.

How the site is built

It is a Cloudflare Worker that server-renders every page, with D1 for counters and orders, and pay.yito.ai for payments. There is no client-side framework: the playground is a small amount of vanilla JavaScript, which keeps the pages fast on a phone.

Frequently asked questions

Are you Cloudflare?

No. This is an independent site. Clef and Clef-Flash are open-source models from Cloudflare, released under the Apache 2.0 licence, and this site is not affiliated with them.

Do you store what I type into the playground?

We store counters — the number of decisions, the model, the latency — but not the state you paste. See the privacy policy for the exact list.

Can I self-host the model instead?

Yes, and for confidential data you should. The weights are open; the run-locally guide covers Ollama and the hardware requirements.
